New rules for the vessels load computer with regard to damage stability are described in MEPC 248 (66).

FOAM
Proteïne based alcohol resistant foam is subject to annual test for chemical stability in accordance with IMO MSC 1312 # 4.7.
Proteïne based portable foam, if factory sealed, remains valid for a period of 5 years in accordance with IMO MSC.1-Circ.1432 # 7.11.
DRY POWDER
Dry powder is subject to a two yearly test for moisture content in accordance with MSC.1-Circ.1432 # 8.2.
TANK ENTRY PERMITS
IMO has issued new guidelines for tankers using nitrogen with regard to tank entry in MSC1 Circ1401. “Tank entry for tankers using nitrogen”.

It is interesting to note that for the measurement of toxic gas for entry purposes “not more than 50% of the occupational exposure limit (OEL)* of any toxic vapours and gases” is allowed with the definition of OEL explained as follows: It should be noted that the term Occupational Exposure Limit (OEL) includes the Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL), Maximum Admissible Concentration (MAC) and Threshold Limit Value (TLV) or any other internationally recognised terms.
